Realtor Resistance to Home Staging
It is always difficult when change comes. I can remember the one page contract. I can remember those huge MLS books. I can remember when there were no home inspections or disclosures, only caveat emptor. I can remember when there was no continuing education. I can remember when there were no computers. We have adapted to all of these changes quite well, even if we were rather pig headed about it in the beginning. Change is good. Another big change is at the door – staging. Staging is not new. It has existed on the west coast where Barb Schwarz who founded Staged Homes has been staging for over 20 years. We easterners are kind of slow in catching up, but the concept of staging has finally made its way to Virginia. Countless magazine articles predict that staging will be commonplace in the near future. Please see news articles under “News”. So why is there all this resistance from realtors? Change, there’s that word again, but change is good remember? Seriously, we are here to help you. We want to partner with you for your benefit and the sellers. Leaving the work of explaining to seller what needs to be done and the staging the property is just one less thing you have to do. When you stage a house you are merchandising a product just like all the other products (homes) for sale. When you buy, you buy a house. When you make a house your own, you have a home. By staging, the product is made to appeal to a much larger range of buyers resulting in a faster sale and more money for the seller. We want to work with you. You won’t be disappointed.
We can do this together as a team.
